The Road Back to Life

Who We Are

The Road Back To Life is an organization whose mission is to offer hope, education and mentorship to persons affected by kidney disease. We demonstrate that based on our experiences kidney disease is not the end of life. Because of modern treatments and medical advances, many kidney patients receive the gift of enjoying a continued life.

Each of our mentors is either a dialysis patient or a transplant recipient, and as such has experienced many of the same concerns as other kidney patients. We have had many of the same questions, and have found answers. We to have felt misunderstood and have had fears and found ways to overcome them.

Having experienced the lifestyle changes that occur with kidney disease we are able to help navigate the road ahead. There have been many difficult choices. We have found that with support of fellow successful kidney patients, life can be less of a challenge and may even be fun and fruitful.

We are here for everyone who is involved in this new chapter of your life, from your partner to your friends. There are questions that need to be asked and answers that can be shared. We as patients sometimes forget we are not alone and that our loved ones may be even more frightened than us. Our experiences and those of our own family members have allowed us to be useful to other people who are experiencing the same thing.

Working in conjunction with dialysis centers The Road Back To Life provides patient mentoring in both group sessions as well as individually. We also help patients by meeting with new dialysis center staff and answering any questions and concerns they might have about working with patients. We participate in pre-dialysis patient education and community education programs.
